Character profile – Genghiz Kitty
Time to take a look at another one of the bad guys from The Ministry of Thunder.
A very dangerous lady.
It’s time to talk about Elizabeth Kalaratri von Hungern Sternberg, Lady of Khrom, Warden of the Agarthi, Mistress of the Migoi, Mother of Destruction, She That Must Be Obeyed.
The evil lady with the airship.
Sabatini calls her Genghiz Kitty.
It’s faster like that. Continue reading
Character Profile – Old Master Wei
So – we’ve met the leading lady and my favorite bad guy from The Ministry of Thunder.
Let’s meet another member of “Team Sabatini”.
Old Wei has the dubious honor of appearing on stage even before the main character is introduced, and he slips in and out of the novel, suggesting herbal infusions and being terribly mysterious.
What’s the deal with the old man? Continue reading
Celebrate the Chinese New Year with the Ministry of Thunder!
And so we are going to do it!
On the 19th of February 2015 the Chinese Year of the Sheep1 will begin.
It will also be exactly two months since The Ministry of Thunder hit the virtual shelves.
Reason enough to celebrate.
Therefore, let’s throw a party!
Character Profile – Captain Asamatsu
And after the leading lady, one of the bad guys.
My favorite bad guy, actually, of all those that crowd the pages of The Ministry of Thunder.
A few years back I was talking with my friend Ken Asamatsu, the famous Japanese horror author and Lovecraftian scholar, and we were discussing the game HPL and his friends played, mentioning each other in their stories, and usually killing each other off.
And I promised Asamatsu-sensei that I would give his name to a bad guy in my first novel, and then kill him off in a horrible way. Which would be fun, considering that Ken Asamatsu is one of the kindest, most friendly people I ever knew.
Thus was born Captain Asamatsu Kenzaburo, Imperial Japanese Navy. Continue reading
The Ministry of Thunder – Influence Map
I wanted to do a post on the movies and the books, and the comics, that I consider an influence on my novel.
Good way to do some publicity, and still maybe intrigue the readers of my blog.
But then I thought, what – post trailers and cover images?
That’s been done to death.
Then I remembered a nice meme tool created by fox-orian, on deviantart.
Why not draw/assemble an influence map for my novel, and let the punters divine its meaning and contents by themselves?
And so, here we go…
Did you catch all the references?
The comments are open for doubts and hypotheses…
Character Profile – Pat Neil
It’s about time I made a post about Pat Neil, the female lead in my novel, The Ministry of Thunder.
A while back I did a post on the other woman, and I’d like to do a short piece about each one of the characters in my book – and Pat is the obvious choice.
Other characters will be discussed in future posts1.
Incidentally – this post will not contain spoilers.
I don’t want to spoil the fun for future readers, you see.
So, off we go,
And as a start, how comes a Chinese girl’s called Pat Neil? Continue reading
