Gold & Glory – Seven Deadly Dungeons

This is almost an instant post: I have just closed my first game of Gold & Glory, the new Savage Worlds supplement by my friend Giuseppe Rotondo.
And boy it is a smash.

The idea behind Gold & Glory is quite simple: transform Savage Worlds into a fast, furious and fun version of the old Red Box.
Plug in Giuseppe’s rules, and you’ll be running dungeon crawls like in the good old days in no time, with the added variety of the SW rules. Continue reading

Planning the Serial – part I

170px-Spaziergang_im_Garten_Amarna_BerlinBe warned, what follows is a post on writing, so you might find it boring, uninteresting or basically a waste of time.
Forewarned is forearmed or something like that.

As I mentioned, my next big work will be called AMARNA and it will be a serial.
Not a series – like all the rest of the stuff I wrote so far – but a serial.
What’s the difference? Continue reading

Thriller of the Week!

I am quite happy to announce that Pro Se Press’ latest project, The Pro Se Thriller of the Week has been launched today with the publication of the first HARRIDAN story.

“PRO SE THRILLER OF THE WEEK,” says Tommy Hancock, Editor in Chief of Pro Se Productions, “is a marriage of prose storytelling with a model that has worked for decades, first in radio, then in tv and even in comic books. Regularly scheduled ‘episodes’ of stories released once a week, spotlighting four different series. Ebooks allow for publishers to do so many unique things, and Pro Se intends to take full advantage of that, setting up our own network of sorts with scheduled ‘programming’ that will appeal to fans of all types and create an excitement for all the stories to come. We are very excited ot kick this concept off with PRO SE THRILLER OF THE WEEK and have so much more to come.”

Featuring a fantastic cover as well as digital formatting and logo design by Antonino Lo Iacono and Marzia Marina, HARRIDAN: SACRIFICIAL LAMB is available for only $1.49 at https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0776M2KPF/ref=sr_1_1…. The PRO SE THRILLER OF THE WEEK is also on Kindle Unlimited, meaning members can get each episode for free.

And yes, hopefully you’ll see something of mine in this series, too.

Everything online, managed through Hangouts, Skype etc.

I will be there with my friends of GGStudio and Savage Worlds Italia, and I’ll bring Hope & Glory to the table.

The face of Nefertiti

Nefertiti.
Chief consort of Akenathen.
Hereditary Princess.
Nofretete_Neues_MuseumGreat of Praises.
Lady of Grace.
Sweet of Love.
Lady of The Two Lands.
Main King’s Wife, his beloved.
Lady of all Women.
Mistress of Upper and Lower Egypt.
Queen of Amarna.

Briefly, this last one: after the death of Akenathen she moved from Amarna, by now a fallen city, back to Thebes, where she probably reigned as pharaoh.
And she had a weird taste in headgear. Continue reading

650.000 so far

About half an hour ago a friend asked me how many words I have written so far from the beginning of this year.
I did some math – it was a lot easier than I thought because I keep track of my projects wordcount: blog posts, work on my stories, articles and reports, translations.
The total came up to roughly 650.000 words in 2017.

pulp_writer

A little more than 2000 words per day, every day – roughly 270.000 words only in blog posts here on Karavansara and on my Italian blog.
Which is actually less than I hoped for – I was aiming at 1.000.000 words in 2017.
But well, I still have seven weeks before the end of the year.
Writing 3000 words per day every day until New Year’s Eve, I might be able to pack another 150.000 words into this year.
800.000 would not be a bad number.

And in 2018 I will do a day-by-day wordcount tally, using a spreadsheet.
To do statistics on it.
I like statistics.
