changeSo, we’ve got some changes coming.
Not much, nothing too dramatic, but hopefully the readers of Karavansara will like what I’ll be doing.

First and foremost, thanks to all that answered my call early this week, both in the comments and privately.
Your suggestions have been very welcome, and quite useful.

So, what’s going to cange?

The weekly schedule will remain the same for the time being, but it will become more defined and articulated

  • Mondays . back to basics – the description of this blog reads…

I’m particularly fond of what I call pulp history – that shady, slightly disreputable portion of our past in which moved adventurers, swashbucklers, globetrotters and other assorted characters

… and apparently my readers like that too!
So I’ll be blogging more about historical characters, places and events that catch my fancy. Mondays will be devoted to Pulp History. I will also go back and expand the thumbnail-bios I posted about a few adventurers and world travelers in the early days of the blog.

  • Wednesdays . more pulp, more adventure – books, movies and comics (possibly keeping an eye on Other People’s Pulps), but also adventure travel, Armchair Adventuring and what not1.

  • Fridays . prompts – I will try and add text prompts, even if photographs seem to be quite successful.

  • Every other day . anything goes – there will still be posts about writing – after all, that’s what I do – and software and ideas, and things that strike my fancy… and links will be posted at random.

Selezione_001I’ve also breathed some new life – hopefully – in my old Netgalley account. In case you missed it, Netgalley is a professional reviewing service, which means I’ll be able to review more books – concentrating on history and biography, travel and pulpish thrillers and the like, keeping close to the themes of this blog.

And that’s it – for the time being.
I’ve got other things I’m trying to do, and August will probably see more changes.
Karavansara is slowly going to be my main web-place, so I’d like to furnish it with all the comforts.

Will it work?
Will Karavansara 2.02 reach a million readers and become one of the top blogs in the blogsphere?
We’ll see.
For the moment, my targets are more realistic – I’d like to sail into the autumn of 2015 with a blog that’s fun to read (and to write!) and that gives something to both those that read it, and the one that writes it.
The rest should come naturally, as long as we keep on track.

On Monday we start with the new, improved schedule… let’s see what happens.
Any last-minute suggestions?

  1. oh, yes… somebody mentioned “more whips”… this is the sort of thing that can give a blog a bad reputation… but lots of visits :D
  2. hmmmm… might change the name and call it Karavansahara …
