We have lost another great artist. Kelly’s covers for the Berkley editions of Robert E. Howard’s works were among the first depictions of Conan and the other heroes and villains by REH I ever saw.

RIP to a great artist. Kelly’s work always impressed with their composition and atmosphere, he sold me quite a few books.

Yes, there are books I bought only because of Kelly’s art, too. Case in point: the Horseclans series.

Same! You know my fascination with the Turkic and Mongol empires and the Silk Road, so those covers really piqued my interest.

Actually, one of the reasons why I started reading in English was in the hopes of getting a few Horseclans books and read them, after I saw the covers in a magazine. It took me forever to track down a few novels, and I found them somewhat average, but the cover design was just great 🙂

Yeah. One of these days I’d like to get prints of one or two of those covers and have them framed for my man-cave. Along with some Frazettas, Whelans, and Marotos …
