The Ministry of Thunder – a 16-words review

I do not normally share the reviews of my novel, The Ministry of Thunder, here on my blog.
I like to keep things classy, you see.

But when one of the most popular and well-loved authors of science fiction out there takes a moment to write a review of my book, what the heck… I know it’s not classy at all, but I have to share it.

I spent many summers reading S.M. Stirling‘s books.
I am proud, and moved, that he now read my novel.

Russian river, four letters

9781594203671OK, full disclosure: I knew about the river Amur because of crosswords puzzles.

Russian river, four letters

Maybe, had I known it is also called Black Dragon River, I would have checked out the Amur river before.

The Lovecraft quote, as far as I’m concerned. Continue reading

That time Gandhi wrote to Hitler

I got this photo through the Ancient Explorers group1. In July 1939, Gandhi wrote a letter to Adolf Hitler. Basically, telling him not to be a dick – but in a classier way.

These few lines, that show the courtesy and tact of a sensible man trying to tackle a very poisonous snake, got me thinking. Continue reading

Ladies & Elephants

My friend Claire loves elephants, and of course we’re just a few day after the Elephants Day, and basically this is the long tail of the unreliable week, I just rewatched Mogambo, and so I thought… why not post a gallery of pictures of ladies with elephants?

More serious content is coming, but for the time being… send in the pachyderms!
