Today is Marlene Dietrich’s birthday – we can’t just let it pass like that, can we?
According to the Buddha, expectations lead to suffering… well, on the other hand, it’s sort of traditional, in the last days of the year, to review the days gone by, and to line up expectations and good intents for the days to come.
I did one of those Facebook online games that really have no meaning, and the result was, well… demanding.

I mean… though decisions?

The things one does for the sake of plausibility…
Anyone that witnessed the Great Swape Debate probably knows that I sometimes can go at weird lengths to find the right words to describe plausibly what’s happening in my stories.
Language is the main tool of anyone who’s writing, and it must strike a balance between elegance and function.
That’s the tricky bit, if you will.

Now this is quite interesting.
As anyone with an interest in old time radio and old movies, I had noticed the unusual pronunciation – and I’m pretty sure, as a non-native speaker, a bit of it probably rubbed off on me.
But now, here’s an explanation of why they spoke that way.
