Ok, so the final draft of my second novel, Tethys is in the mail, and on its way to the editor’s desk.
Now what?
Because me, at this, point, I normally feel a sort of post-whatever depression.
Like I had to say goodbye to old friends, my life is empty and all that.
So here’s a few things that might help – certainly they help me.
First – get the rest of the day off.
And I mean Off!
No cooking, washing, doing the dishes, going to the post office.
OK, maybe feeding the cat, because he can’t do it alone, poor critter, but otherwise, just take the day off.
Second – forget about the damn book.
It’s out of your hands now.
Sure, just as you mailed it you realized that there’s that bit in chapter 14 that might… forget it.
Let the editor do his or her job. Trust them.
There will be time for adjustments, changes and other anxiety-generating issues later.
Third – give yourself a gift.
You made it, right?
They said you’d crumble and fall, you’ll never make it and it would suck anyway, but here you are – while they were talking, you were writing!
Give yourself an award.
A nice dinner, a big cup of ice cream, a movie, a concert, a book…
Fourth – renew the acquaintance with an old, non-writing related interest.
You know, check out the facts about that old story you once heard… start a new Pinboard on Pinterest… try a new software…
Fifth – start outlining your next work.
But taking it easy, ok?

Always with something going on even in your day off! 😀
You are incredible! 🙂
