Music for writing

OK, so this has been sort of a themed week, what with my writing a new story and a new character and all that.

So today a bit of music from a concert that’s been providing a soundtrack of sorts for my writing this week*.

Nineveh!

Two for the price of one…
I just found out this piece of music, which works great as an ideal part of a soundtrack for my Acueleo & Amunet stories.
And the video serves as research for my next story, currently being outlined.

The next Aculeo & Amunet story will be called All the Roads to Nineveh, and despite an echo of Zelazny, the title comes from an observation from my editrix, Marina (Thanks! 😉 )

Music for Writing

Music was mentioned in a comment to one of my rambling “I’a writer, look at the way I do it!” posts a few weeks back.
I said I’ll write more on the subject of music and writing.
Here we go.
While it is not one of my favorite writing tools, I do use music when writing.

Music has, for me, three main functions :

  • as a distraction filter (for me, it works far better than Focus Writer and other such software)
  • as a soundtrack for my stories and for specific scenes
  • and as a tool to help me define characters.
