Finally a writing method that works

Today, after years spent writing, I finally defined my writing process – so I thought I’d share with the world my discoveries.

My work-flow can be divided into three essential steps, throughout my work-day.

hqdefault3 pm-7 pm
Having briefly defined what I’m going to write about next, I lounge on my couch, reading a book and/or listening to some good music (crisps, orange juice or tea optional), while the ideas grow wild in the backwoods of my brain.

10 pm-5 am
Sleep.

5.30 am-11 am
Write the stuff down.

Redo from start.

Believe it or not, it works like clockwork.
I might even find a fancy name for this and then write a handbook about it.

Getting ready for the Media Desert

As work on various projects continues, the dread Soccer World Cup approaches.
I’ve nothing against the sport itself – despite the fact that’s polarizing too much attention in my opinion – but not having an interest in it, I’m facing a long stretch of intellectual desert: nothing on the telly, cinemas closed when the Italian team is playing, 90% of the news focused on who’s winning, who’s losing.

The true story of Sinbad the Sailor (sort of)

captain-sinbad-graham-diamond-paperback-cover-artI’m a sucker for a good novel with an Arabian Nights twist.
So I’m currently reading Graham Diamond‘s Captain Sinbad, a smart, highly entertaining historical fantasy adventure which supposedly tells us the “true story” of the Arabian Nights character and his travels around the Mediterranean, Medieval Europe and the Near East.

Now, I’ve always loved Sinbad – first discovered in old Technicolor adventure movies (Douglas Fairbanks!), the Fleischer Popeye cartoon (wonderful!) then through repeated readings of the Arabian Nights*, and Tim Severin‘s The Sindbad Voyage.

No media-related post today.

I’m happy to announce that one of my proposals passed the selection process at Pro Se Press – yes, I sold them a story!*

For a small-time hack living in the backwoods, feels like suddenly joining the major league.
I’m scared, nervous, damn proud and pretty exhilarated.

And since they gave me permission, I think I’ll flaunt it…

That’s me!

* Now all I’ve to do is write it.

Happy birthday to me

Some-Women-Wont-WaitSomewhere along the way this writer business took a wrong turn.

I mean, today’s my birthday.
The brochure… yeah, I’m pretty sure there was a brochure somewhere. Anyway, I’m positive it said I should be lounging by the pool, wearing an aloha shirt, a big silly drink with a paper parasol in my hand, surrounded by beautiful women, while the huge royalties for my highly successful books pile up in a Swiss bank.
