Character Profile – Old Master Wei

So – we’ve met the leading lady and my favorite bad guy from The Ministry of Thunder.
Let’s meet another member of “Team Sabatini”.

bb11bfb723a231ace354dfc95409846cOld Wei has the dubious honor of appearing on stage even before the main character is introduced, and he slips in and out of the novel, suggesting herbal infusions and being terribly mysterious.

What’s the deal with the old man? Continue reading

Writing a lot – how I do it

This is the sort of post that nobody cares about, so don’t feel guilty if you think it might be better to just stop here and go check some better blog.
Really, I’m cool.
Fact is, I’m writing a lot, and a lot of different things, these days, and sort of like it felt nice writing down a few ideas.

As I mentioned in a previous post, I’m writing the first draft of a novel, putting together a large gaming project, revising two short stories and writing a third.
Plus blog posts, and a good simulation of a normal life.
So, here’s how I’m doing it1. Continue reading

Steampunk Hands Around the World 2015

Just a quick heads-up – in February, I’ll be attending the second Steampunk Hands Around the World event.

Beginning Sunday, February 1st, and continuing until Saturday, February 28th, the group will demonstrate this year’s theme of Steampunk: Our Playground, Our Classroom, Our Workshop with how steampunks revel in their fun, their education, and their making of The Future That Never Was.

Considering that the GreyWorld project does have a significant steampunk component, it will be nice to meet the steampunks from all over the world, compare ideas and what else.
Time to connect back with the healthy elements in the steampunk community, so to speak.

I think I’ll contribute to the workshop by posting steampunk-related posts here and on the brand-new, currently-under-construction GreyWorld blog – whose launch will hopefully coincide with the start of the event.

The workshop is open, and if you are interested, there’s a page on Facebook where you can sign up, and you can also find further information on the Airship Ambasador blog.

Werner Herzog, film-making and writing

It’s Sunday, so a media-related post, but different.
I was reading this article about German Director Werner Herzog1 , and found a list of his suggestions to young film-makers.

And indeed, these suggestions apply to writing too – and a lot of other things.
So, what with me being on a writing roll and all that, I decided to see how Herzog’s rules apply to writing, based on what I learned so far. Sort of a personal recap of what’s been going on so far.
And yes, this is incredibly cheeky.
So sue me. Continue reading
