Welcome to Funeral Point

mana bros base squareI am happy to announce that the first… hmm, the first thing branded with the Mana Bros logo is about to hit the shelves.
As I mentioned a few days back, I’m working on a number of project, one of which is the translation of Il Sonno della Ragione, the indie horror/adventure game by my friend Alex Girola. The setting is very fun, and it’s the sort of gaming universe that gives you ideas.

Last night I went through a bout of insomnia – as it sometimes happens to me – and I started writing to pass the time. The end result is Welcome to the Neighborhood, a short story set in the universe of the game, and the first episode in a series that will go under the name of Funeral Point.

FUNERAL POINT LOGO 1Funeral Point is a trailer park in the desert on the California/Nevada border, where the US government has set up a relocation project for … special people.

It’s the spring of 1953.
Stanley Banner is a federal agent recovering from a rough experience and freshly assigned to the security of Funeral Point and the people that live here.
People like…

Doctor Faragò Botond, who escaped the Nazi camps and now plays endless solitaire games of chess…
… Elektra Fresenius, pale and distant, the oldest resident of Funeral Point…
… The Pessoas, refugees from some Banana Republic in South America…

A place where the coyote roams and the tumbleweeds roll, Funeral Point is a quite more interesting that it seems.

Right now, I am planning a loose series of episodes, that I will strictly write as a vacation from my “reguar writing”. I have no schedule, no detailed season, nothing. This is a fun project.
My Patrons in the Five Bucks Brigade will get the texts first, as part of our deal.
Then I will release a commercial edition – in Italian, as long as we don’t have an English version of the game – featuring the story, a snippet of background, and the character sheet of one of the characters in the story.
This way, as soon as the English version of The Sleep of Reason will hit the shelves, we’ll also have a collection of short stories and a nice chunk of sourcebook ready.

  1. FUNERAL POINT sounds fascinating. Looking forward to reading what you do with this concept.
