We must, or we’ll go extinct.
It’s not a difficult choice.
Well, maybe it is difficult for a politician, but a moderately intelligent human being or a smart chimp would see that immediately.

But considering that we vote them to office, we still have a chance.
It’s a cultural problem, really. People should recognize this is the sort of pursuit that would give our civilization a boost.
