  1. Wow, YEAH I’d like to see this–likely won’t show up at my Podunk local Mall theatre, though–maybe a cheapo DVD one day? I’ll be looking. MORE AND MORE well done Chinese productions like this–did you see “Wolf Totem” yet? If not, you should(available cheapo now on DVD, and, I believe, viewable on Youtube–certainly trailers of the movie are….)–I think it’d be right up yer alley, as it was mine! I had acquired and read and liked the book by the same title(also available cheapo) before the movie got made, so I really looked forward to the film! Amazing it was a BESTSELLER in China, being a tale with an environmental message! Such like doesn’t necessarily do well in THIS country, much less China! So there’s hope…..

  2. So then, FIRST, go to Youtube and watch one of the “Wolf Totem” trailers to whet yer interests further. Some neato factoids to keep in mind–the director, Jean Jaques Annaud(who did a coupla other good critter films–“The Bear” and “The Two Brothers”) had been EXILED FOREVER from China for daring to do that “7 Years In Tibet” bit, but was DEexiled specifically to do this film, it being so popular a project because of the bestselling book, and Annaud having that “critter movie experience”! The wolves in it are real Mongolian wolves, acquired as pups and raised and trained for this movie by a SUPERB wolf guy in Canada. The scene of the wolves attacking the horse herd in a blizzard is UNBELIEVABLE–an incredible piece of work! The portrayal of the nomads in Inner Mongolia, the incredible plains scenery; well, just DON’T MISS IT!
