The story of the guy that opened a pub

desert_road_near_wakra__qatar_by_giardqatar-d4m6fkbIt’s been a bad few days, with more bad days to come.
And as you’re reading this, my Italian-language blog is officially on indefinite hiatus.

It’s been a painful decision – strategie evolutive has been around for seven years, and it has sometimes been my home much more than the physical places in which I have lived.
It’s been fun, but it was not fun anymore.

There’s a story about a guy that opened a pub just so he could have somebody to talk to.
It’s a story I used to tell when explaining why I started my blog.
There’s a bit about that story that usually did not get in the telling.
It is the bit about the day the guy realized his patrons were no longer talking to him, except to say “shut the f*ck up and gimme a beer!”
The guy closed his pub.
End of the story.

So here I am, smack in the middle of a writing binge (so much to write, so little time!), suddenly with only just one blog to run, and seven years of blog gone for good.
Well, it happens, doesn’t it?

It’s a new dawn, like Grace Slick said at Woodstock.

  1. I don’t get your point. do you want some to talk to? Are you offering me a beer? I like your english blog but I don’t comment that often. Are you looking for some kind of feedback?

    • Christopher – feedback is always welcome, and conversation is always appreciated 🙂
But I don’t want to arm-twist my readers into talking to me.
Or buy their appreciation by getting them drunk! 😀

It’s just that my Italian blog was not fun anymore for me – and probably for my readers.
Better to take a break and recharge the batteries.

I promise I’ll stop whining now and get back to work as usual 😉

  2. Hi Davide

I realized the closure of Strategie Evolutive only now… as I said in a previous comment there, I’ve no much time on my days to spend on the web anymore so I can read my favorites blogs only on Sunday … and now I found this bad news 😦

I’m really sorry for this decision, but I think there’s nothing to say if you didn’t found it interesting anymore

But can I ask you why the blog is now even “private” ? … Is it not possible to read at least what you (and your commentators) wrote in these years? A lot of very interesting stuff was written on Strategie Evolutive, and I think it would be a pity to miss it

Hope you can come back on your decision… In the meanwhile I wish you all the best in the future 🙂

    PS
I sent you a request on Strategie Evolutive … eventually I’d like if you could at least accept it 😉
