It’s been pointed out that my list of Christmas gifts for the masses was fearfully lacking in the Roleplaying Games department. To set that straight, I’ll post here three suggestions for the roleplayer that has everything.
Because what’s better than spending Christmas day reading a new RPG handbook?
Here goes…

Scheherazade is a fantasy roleplaying game set in the world of the Arabian Nights. The setting is a nice mix of fantasy and historical accuracy, the system matches the mood of the game perfectly. Character creation is fast and fun, and the game offers endless opportunities for action, adventure and wonder. And the art is absolutely stunning.
And yes, it was designed by my friend Umberto Pignatelli, and I may have let a hand with a few details like the cruise speed of a camel. But the game is really great, and comes with the added bonus of being very suitable for younger gamers.

Gamers looking for a solid, highly detailed and surprising space opera game may like to give a look to Sarah Newton’s Mindjammer, that couples an intriguing universe with ample opportunities to live exciting adventure with a cast of unusual characters. It runs on FATE, that is not everybody’s cup of tea (it’s not mine, for instance) and yet manages to maintain a strong indie-style attitude that’s quite refreshing.

And finallys omething completely different – a game I already mentioned in the past but that I am convinced deserves all the love we can manage to give it: Cyntia Celeste Miller’s On the Air, the game in which you play a radio drama in the golden age of radio, complete with sponsors and weekly cliffhangers. The rulebook is thin but quite complete, and it looks like a million. This little game is lots of fun, and it is very different.
