As they say, two birds with one stone. It’s a wonderful book and it will take one Hell of a translator to give the same reading experience to the Italian audience. 🙂

Okay, I have a question. I always wondered how translating a full length novel works these days. Do you actually translate it sentence by sentence as you go, or do you use some sort of a program to do an initial translation and then you go through it looking for grammar or syntax errors?
On another note, congratulations on getting the gig.

I translate it directly, without software assistance.
In my experience, looking for grammar and syntax errors is slower going than translating straight away, and a lot less fun.
Also, machine-translation may be good for technical texts, but really drains out any spark of life or character from a narrative.

Thanks, I just wondered what kind of impact modern software had on this kind of work. I can believe that it had a negative effect on literary work. I did engineering work for a living and and with a a lot of machinery/equipment and other products being manufactured outside the USA a lot of the spec sheets came with software generated translations into English.
And quite frankly even those were, to be polite, less than spectacular. LOL!!
