Yesterday I got me a copy of Twitters fro Writers, by Rayne Hall.
Basically, I have a very conflicting (meaning, messy and discontinuous) relationship with Twitter, and I enjoy very much Rayne Hall’s books – both her fiction and non-fiction.
So, it was not a hard decision.
My main problem with Twitter comes from the fact that I never really studied the thing – I browsed a few tutorials, but I never sat down to learn the ropes.
Twitter for Writers is a fast, fun read and it’s geared towards writers – which is exactly what the doctor ordered.
And it’s already giving me ideas – so much so, I’m refurbishing my old personal Twitter channel – in case you need me, you can get me at @doctordee .
Once that’s done, I’ll also give a good hard look at the @KaravansaraBlog channel – that at the moment basically just retweets the posts on this blog.
this will have to change.
The general idea is to start using more of Twitter and less of Facebook – that is filling up with troglodites.
On the other hand, my Twitter account is pretty popular with bots – many of which I back followed… and now they will have to go.
Reading Twitter for Writers I’m finding out a lot of things I did not know or, knowing them, never realized could work for me.
It would be fun to engage at a faster, more personal level with my readers.
So, for a few days, I’ll spend one hour trying to get my Twitters straight – there will be noise, dust, smell of painting, but in the end we’ll probably get something better, faster, fun.
Watch this space for news.
