Blum’s Japan

Two days ago I discovered Robert Frederick Blum.
Blum was an American artist, painter and printer, born in Cincinnati in 1857.

He spent some time in Europe, and in 1890, Blum visited Japan.
He spent there three years.
In those years he painted a number of scenes that are absolutely striking.

Here is a small selection.

Robert Frederick Blum died of pneumonia in 1903, at the age of 45.
