One has to keep an eye on the market.
Know your public and all that.
So… a quick overview of the Italian-language Amazon Top 100 for Fantasy ebooks reveals that a successful fantasy novel on the Italian market…
a . is part of a trilogy or a “saga”
b . has a title which includes one or more of the following
. blood
. darkness
. night
. fire/flame(s)
. black
. princess
. angel(s)
… possibly in English.
c . must be set
. in Scotland
. in Venice
. in a world just like our own, but with dragons
. in a dystopic future
d . is the story of a beautiful girl nobody loves, that discovers she is the heir of a huge ancient power, and falls for a hunky bastard that treats her like dirt, but they have sex anyway. Evil is vanquished. Love triumphs. They have some more sex.
e . the cover should feature an image like this one
f . it’s a 400+ pages novel that goes for 99 cents.
I look at my poor, cheap sword & sorcery stories, and realize I’ll never make it in this country…

It would sell like wildfire.
Just make sure they are making whoopee on the cover, and it’s a winner.
