(Not a) Writing Prompt – a glass of adventure

The Middle Sea

l_5ab81160-6a02-11e2-a0a2-0765ac200010

This is not exactly a writing prompt.
Fact is, sometimes we chance upon a picture that sums up everything we’ve been searching for.

I’ve been collecting material for a new series now for over a year.
I want the mystery and the magic of the sea.
Castles on the coast, golden in the last hours of the waning day.
I want shipwrecks and underwater action.
I want the enclosed space of a small sea – the Mediterranean.
And the dream of a quiet, simple life.
And yesterday I found this picture, that has it all.
What a wonderful cover it would make!

Writing Prompt – I Searched on Google…

“Things that chicks dig”

original

… and here’s what I found.
This was an experiment – commenting on my post from yesterday, my friend Marina suggested that querying Google for “things that chicks dig” is another bad way of gaining inroads into the female psyche.
But you know me: I had to try anyway.
So I tried.
The image above was among the first five results provided by Google.
We’ll leave the discussion and writing assignment as summer homework for the students…

Sunbathing in style

This photo is part of a set published in 1950 by Life Magazine about an enterprising gentleman planning to turn old Catalina seaplanes into “flying yacht”.
You find more about the project (and more photos) here.
