Writing: at night, every day, in public

The bit about using Google Docs and sharing the link for people to watch is turning into something interesting.
So interesting, in fact, that I plan to do this at least three nights a week, starting this week.

No, OK, I know, I know… I’ll start tomorrow…

But I will.
I’d start tonight, but tonight I have my weekly online Deadlands game, in which I am playing Doctor Lazlo Zelkowitz, inventor, paladin of science and rationality, and creator of the patented Sonic Disruptor MKI.

So no writing tonight.
But tomorrow I’ll have a go at it.
This way, not only I’ll keep my daily word-count up, but I’ll save some daylight hours for a walk in the hills and maybe a read1.

I might do five nights a week – saving one for Deadlands and one for what else, but this will be a busy month.
I’ll be attending a convention this weekend, and I’ll have guests over for Halloween, so I am not fully master of my time.
But who knows, come November…

And for this reason – that is, writing a lot of short stories in the evening – I am checking all the open calls I can find. The idea is to hit as many markets as possible, as fast as possible, applying the noted Bradbury rule…

“Write a short story every week. It’s not possible to write 52 bad short stories in a row.”

Only, I’m working on a tighter schedule.
And some of the things I’ll write will be exclusively for my Patrons. Or they’ll get a first look. Or something.
But if you know of any open call out there for genre fiction, just send it along.
SF, fantasy, horror and thriller, noir, the occasional comedy bit. I never did erotica, but what the heck, one might as well give it a try. Ditto western. Boy I’d love to write a western story or two.
And thanks to my friend Angelo, who already sent along a few.

I am also planning a short pamphlet, in Italian, about this writing fast and writing a lot business, so that busy people won’t have to stay up every night to follow me in the hopes of finding something good to sell at their writing courses.
Buy the handbook guys, and quote from it at your heart’s content.

And now sorry, but I have to go and clean my Sonic Disruptor.

  1. I’d like to do some schedule adjustment to my daily routine to optimize energy and daylight and all that. I’ll write a post about it, probably.
