There are some horrors that plague our species, that unveil themselves once every month, that are so horrid that even the distant moon takes refuge behind scudding clouds. There are some doors best left unopened, some beasts left undisturbed and some ancient venoms best left corked.
She slipped through darkened hallways, hugging close to the walls and staying in the shadows. She wasn’t supposed to be here, not at this late hour but the temptation to see… to know… was too great to resist.
But all it took was one wrong turn and a shrill wail pierced the darkened offices when their paths crossed, shock and fear and pain in equal proportions.
When one of the Research Department’s pathetic little experiments wanders out of it’s containment area and tears a $95 cap-sleeved cashmere sweater vest forty-five minutes before her first date in three months, all should fear the wrath of the Head of Human Resources.
